Introduction

  • You don't need to go far or for very long to get some time away to reconnect.

  • Our shepherd's hut, Thehuteyam, is a cosy retreat, just for two.

  • Lock your phones away & enjoy a digital detox getaway together.

  • Relax & unwind

  • Escape & explore new places

Preparing for the Trip

  • Here's what you might like to think about packing for your time away.

Clothing Essentials: Comfortable outfits suitable for summer hikes and something to relax in.

Hiking Gear: Sturdy shoes and maybe a rucksack for your adventures.

Evening Wear: Although a Shepherd's Hut stay is a relaxed getaway, you may be planning a nice romantic dinner, or even a trip to watch the sunset.

  • If you are anything like me, I love to take a picture (on my phone) to capture & remember the moments away.

Books & Games: There are plenty of these in our little green hut, but maybe pack your favorite reads for when you have some down time.

Camera/phone: To capture those memories and beautiful landscapes during your stay.

Your Shepherd's Hut for a night or two

  • Our shepherd's hut is cute, cosy and simple. Think hiding away in your very own little cabin, no distractions, no TV & no WiFi! (you really can manage for 24hours without these "essentials")

  • Decor: A calm space, with fresh flowers, fairy lights & scented candles.

Comfort Items: There are piles of blankets, hot water bottles for cold nights and plenty of pillows & cushions for extra comfort.

  • Seating Area: Outside seating areas to enjoy your breakfast alfresco & nature together, as well as the deck & the den.

Fire Pit: Plan a cosy evening curled up by the fire. A glass of something cold & toasting marshmallows together.

Embrace Romance

  • There are plenty of activities that encourage you to connect, you don't have to spend much to have a good time!.

Stargazing: In a dark sky area like the Peak District, spend evenings outside for some romantic stargazing.

Cooking Together: BBQ's are the perfect way to enjoy a simple meal, both get involved cooking side by side.

  • How about planning a surprise date night during the stay?

Candlelit Dinner: Create a romantic atmosphere with candles & fairy lights (we can provide these if you plan ahead) and a simple meal, it's the thought that counts - it can even be your BBQ

Picnic in Nature: It's easy to go to the popular places, but why not take a picnic to a quiet scenic spot (we know the best places) at the top of the hill or in the woods where there are fewer people. You can order a picnic box from the local cafes & maybe take a chilled drink to enjoy.

Digital Detox Tips

  • Not to sound like a broken record, but we really really can't stress the importance of disconnecting from technology.

  • We realise that in todays world, you feel like you need to keep in touch. There is no problem checking in regularly, but do try. Our lock box will make it easier, after all, out of site, out of mind.

Set Boundaries: Maybe if you have left the kids at home for a child free break, agree on a specific time to check the phones. But really try not to get distracted & find you have wasted an hour of your precious time away.

Engage in Offline Activities: Planning is key! Go for a walk, read a book, play a game, go to the pub, go out for tea....

  • Spending quality time together without distractions should not be underestimated. At home, there is always some chore to do. Away, there really isn't. Make sure you don't waste your precious time away.

Adventure Awaits

  • We encourage our couples to explore the local area.

Nature Trails: We are fortunate to have a number of trails just a short drive away, reimagined train lines like the Monsal trail with easy walking & plenty of places to stop off for refreshments.

Local Attractions: There are plenty of pretty bustling market towns, Bakewell, Ashbourne & Chesterfield have weekly markets to mooch around, or find a scenic view straight from the door. Castleton has caves to visit, Chatsworth House if you are a Pride & Prejudice fan, Hathersage for shopping & funky coffee shops.

  • Suggest a spontaneous adventure to add excitement to your trip - an early start for a sunrise or a late night to star gaze maybe?

Reflect and Connect

  • We hope a trip away in our little green hut will encourage you to recreate some of the moments at home.

  • We aren't naive to think that it can be done every night, or even every week, but why not introduce a monthly date night inspired by your break away

  • Flowers for your love, TV free evenings, playing games, enjoying food cooked at home, candles instead of the big light, even a night planning your next mini adventure

Conclusion

  • Time off together should not be underestimated.

  • A break in our little green hut can provide you with a perfect blend of romance and adventure.

  • Why not plan your own personalised summer escape together, a day & a night (or two) away will do you both the power of good......

We hope we've persuaded you that time away, travelling is far more beneficial than realising the only place you ever go is work - come and stay

Relax & unwind, escape & explore
