Time to celebrate: 5 Unique Ideas for Special Occasions

Special moments deserve to be celebrated & we think the best way to do that is by creating lasting memories with your loved ones.
A birthday, an engagement, a wedding, a babymoon, or simply a quiet night away, finding unique ways to surprise your special someone can help turn an ordinary day into something really special.

1. Celebrate Birthdays by slowing things down
We are big advocates of slow living, it offers you a chance to focus on presence and enjoyment without the need for rushing around. Forget about what is going on at home, at work, with family & friends & prioritise some quality time out together. Trust us, you won't regret it!
A simple day: a long breakfast, a local walk, a visit to a favourite local shop or cafe.
Gift experiences instead of things, such as tickets to a concert or a weekend away. See what we did there....
End the day spending time together over dinner & a glass of wine, chatting & enjoying each others company
Cosy up in front of the fire, quietly watching the flames, wrapped in blankets, a comfortable silence.
Sit quietly together, read books, flick through photo albums or play a game

2. Surprise Engagements - Love stories are our favourite
We have hosted many engagements at the little green hut over the years. We have shared in some of the planning (we are expert secret keepers), others have been secret proposals chosen in a memorable setting up on the Peak District hills or cosied up next to the fire.
A thoughtful proposal is one that reflects your partner’s interests and becomes part of your love story.
Choose a meaningful or special location to you, maybe a favourite getaway spot or a first date location.
Plan a simple private picnic with treats and a bottle of fizz, sit, relax & enjoy the quiet moment together.
How about creating a playlist of songs that are special to you both?
With a bit of luck, once you've popped the question, that place & time will be a special moment & memory for you both for eternity.

Celebrate in style after you get married
We host many wedding couples who get married at Eyam Hall, which itself, was built as a wedding present & is still a unique family home.
The location is perfect for a relaxed outdoor wedding ceremony in the Spring/Summer months & smaller, intimate ceremonies in their flagged hall in Autumn/Winter.
After your celebrations & before your guests leave, escape earlier, wander up the hill in your fineries & begin married life together in our private, quiet corner of the Peak District. Hide away, long lie ins after your big day & hunker down to start your next chapter.
Honeymoons might be adventures far away but a night or two recalling your day, enjoying some down time & escaping after all the preparation is our top tip to the start of married life together.

Plan a Babymoon in a Peaceful Hideaway
I really wish this had been a thing when I was having babies! But thank goodness, todays expectant parents realise that taking a short break before baby arrives is a good idea.
A "babymoon" offers you both the chance to relax together before life changes & your family grows. Choose a quiet hideaway in a scenic location like the Peak District, where slowing down is easy, peace & quiet and being in the outdoors & close to nature combine to create moments of calm.
Book somewhere quiet, cosy, private & calm.
Remember it's a time to relax together & if you really need to do something, maybe a gentle activity like nature walks, cafe stops or just staying in & reading by the fire is what you need.
Bring along a camera to capture special moments before the next chapter begins. Polaroid cameras are a fun way to capture moments instantly in an old fashioned kind of way.

5. Enjoy Quiet Nights Away in the Peak District
Sometimes the best way to celebrate is by escaping from everyday life & exploring new places. The Peak District offers truly stunning landscapes and peaceful places to hideaway perfect for a quiet night away.
Choose accommodation with views - rolling hills or village scenes.
Stay in & enjoy a basket with local cheeses, fresh bread, and a bottle of wine for a simple dinner, we offer celebration baskets on arrival or maybe visit a local farm shop & treat yourselves to some "posh nosh"
Spend the evening stargazing or enjoying a fire pit.
Use the time to disconnect from devices and focus on each other.

We hope we have inspired you to "celebrate in style" & maybe surprise your special someone with a thoughtful detail or two......
Don't forget, little things can have the biggest impact when celebrating & always remember, surprises really don’t have to be grand or expensive to be meaningful.
Leave notes or small gifts hidden around the home or your chosen accommodation.
Arrange for flowers or a favourite treat to be delivered unexpectedly.
Create a playlist of songs that remind you of moments & your love.
& always remember to capture moments with photos to look back on later, I like to make a photo book of a special trip or even an annual highlights album to remember all the happy & fun times.
We hope to see you here soon in our little corner of the Peak District in the little green hut & help you celebrate together, creating moments for you to take home those extra special memories.....
xx Big love xx
