If you are looking for a weekend escape that combines scenic walks with cosy pub experiences, Eyam is the perfect destination. Our mini guide takes you through a two-night stay filled with drinks and meals at three of our favourite pubs, add in a wander & wonder at the natural beauty of the area.


Night One: Drinks at The Miners Arms


Start your weekend with a visit to our local, The Miners Arms, a traditional pub just down the hill from us, located right in the heart of Eyam. This pub has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes it perfect for unwinding after your journey. Expect wooden beams, stone walls, and a roaring fireplace.

What to Expect at The Miners Arms

Day Two: A Walk and a Well-Earned Drink at The Barrel Inn, Bretton


A day for exploring the local area & the Peak District’s stunning landscapes. One of the best ways to experience the area is by taking a walk from Eyam up the hill towards Bretton. It might be a steep hike, but the panoramic views from the top make the effort worthwhile.

  • Paths & trails suitable for most fitness levels. Steep & uneven underfoot in places

Once you reach Bretton, The Barrel Inn will reward you. This Derbyshire Inn, the highest in the county, serves a variety of well kept real ales and delicious freshly cooked, locally sourced food, making it a great spot to stop a while and refuel.

Before you have to leave & for your final day, treat yourself to a traditional Sunday lunch at The Bulls Head Inn Foolow, the nextdoor neighbour to Eyam. This pub is known for its excellent food and charming "chocolate box" village setting, making it the perfect end to your weekend getaway.
